Lucy on the beach in Sagres, Portugal.

I like to write. I am lucky that what I write sometimes makes sense to other people and occasionally even shows up on the pages of major Canadian newspapers. Lately, I have been writing about my family, my travels, and my own efforts to keep life in balance. My daughter Lucy is a very big part of that – brilliant children like her are often notorious for sucking up large amounts of their parents’ intellectual energy and ensuring that work remains it its proper place  – which is why I have included a photo of her on a beautiful beach we visited last spring. So, for your reading pleasure, here are a few of my favourite things.
